The Challenge
After more than a decade of steady growth, Social Enterprise UK set out to fundamentally reimagine the UK Social Enterprise Awards. The brief was clear: move away from the traditional seated awards dinner and create a more dynamic, high-energy experience that better reflected the ambition and creativity of the sector.
This meant redesigning the entire event format—shifting to a reception-style evening with a seated theatre awards ceremony at its core, followed by further networking. Alongside this, SEUK wanted to significantly raise the bar on production, scale and overall experience, including a step-change in venue, audience size and atmosphere.
Balancing this level of transformation with the expectations of a loyal audience—while ensuring the event still felt authentic and accessible to the sector—added a further layer of complexity.
The Solution
Fuse Events worked in close partnership with SEUK to reimagine the awards from the ground up, leading venue search, format development and full event delivery.
We secured Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre—providing a step up in scale and profile, while enabling a flexible event design that combined a vibrant reception with a focused, theatre-style awards ceremony. The new format allowed for greater energy, better storytelling and a more engaging experience for attendees.
From production and staging to guest flow, scripting and supplier management, we delivered the event end-to-end—ensuring the transition to a new format felt seamless rather than risky. Throughout, we maintained a strong social enterprise supply chain, reinforcing the values at the heart of the awards.
The result was a confident evolution of a flagship event: higher production quality, increased attendance, and a format that better reflects the ambition and momentum of the UK’s social enterprise movement.
