The Fuse Social Enterprise Advent 2020!
1st December 2020
Let's be honest 2020 has been a hell of a year lots of businesses not to mention the toll on many people who have struggled in and out of work. For those of us lucky enough to still have 'viable businesses' we need to look ahead into 2021 with renewed determination, not only to help us provide the vital services we give but also to make the biggest positive impact we can. It is an old cliche, but adverse times often bring opportunities and I and the team at Fuse hope that this year is no exception. I hope this year has made business owners think about how to work in a more positive, equitable and sustainable way which also creates a positive impact on our society... because by cripes we need to! With challenges such as climate change and an impending economic downturn we need the business sector to step up to the challenge like never before. The good news is you can help! All you need to do is think about where and how you spend your budget.
Gone are the days of simply flogging the cheapest unit cost item from a supplier halfway around the world, as have gone the days of our clients not caring about where they procure services from. The bottom line is and should no longer be... the bottom line.
For years we have existed as an agency that tries to do things a little differently. We're a social enterprise and we champion the use of other social enterprises and community interest companies throughout our supply chain. Given we're now into the festive season we thought we would try and extract some early new years resolutions out of you and inspire other business owners or corporate entities to think again when procuring services. We want to inspire you to consider using a social enterprise supplier..... also without being boring, the Social Value Act is a law worth mentioning and if you work in public procurement one you should already be aware of, please look it up if you have time, I digress. The simple message is, we have an opportunity to reset how we work, 2020 has created a moment for change and we want to help you seize it.
To give you all a bit of inspiration when you plan ahead for 2021 we've compiled our annual social enterprise Advent (#SocEntAdvent) to showcase service providing companies. We can all buy ethical gifts this Christmas, but going forward the greatest gift many of you can give (which will have A LOT more impact) is the gift of business to these amazing organisations. Also, if more people choose to buy (or procure) from social enterprises it leaves less and less room for bad businesses to operate in ways which create more harm than good.
There will be no spoilers in this blog, but if you want to find out who we're championing this year, then simply check out our social media channels each day (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn) to see who we've included.
From myself and all the team here at Fuse we hope you all have a wonderful festive season and wish you all the very best for 2021.
