World Social Marketing Conference hits the USA

The World Social Marketing Conference will take place in the United States of America, May 15-18, 2017, at the Renaissance Capital View Hotel, Arlington, Virginia.

The mission of the Conference, owned and managed by Fuse Events, is to act as a vehicle to help build a global movement dedicated to capturing, spreading and nurturing good practice in Social Marketing, as well as increase the efficiency and effectiveness of Social Marketing practice at both operational and strategic levels.

Social Marketing, not to be confused with Social Media, is a set of evidence and experience based concepts techniques and principles that provide a systematic approach to understanding behaviour and developing social interventions that work. It is a fusion of science, experience and practical ‘know how’. In short, it’s using marketing for social good

Fuse are committed to running the World conference at locations around the world every two years to in order to build a truly global community of Social Marketers. At our last conference representatives from over 40 countries came together to exchange ideas and good practice

At the event in May, new ideas and evidence will be presented by global thought leaders and practitioners. The event will bring together practitioners, academics, policy makers, researchers and industry to explore and enrich Social Marketing practice around the world.

Given the current political climate in the USA and around the world, the conference comes at a vital time for free thinking, liberal change makers. It’ll be a celebratory atmosphere when we bring together such positive, progressive thought leaders when they’re needed the most. Our hope is that, despite the difficult current times, positive change will still take place, the world over, as a direct result of the relations made and new skills learned at WSMC 2017.

In addition to 2 full conference days, delegates have the opportunity to add pre and post conference workshops on 15 and 18 May, focusing on subject such as Social Marketing Planning; Social Marketing for Community Coalitions and Reaching Your Audience Digitally.

The conference venue, the Renaissance Capital View Hotel, as the name suggests has views on the capital building and is just 4 miles from The White House. This fashionable hotel is also only 0.9 miles from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Polished rooms and suites come with marble bathrooms, minifridges and coffeemakers, as well as 37-inch flat-screens and Wi-Fi (free). Upgraded rooms offer access to a lounge with free breakfast and snacks.

Bike rentals and an airport shuttle are complimentary. There’s a modern Italian restaurant, plus a cafe. Other amenities include an indoor pool, a fitness room, a business centre and 16 meeting rooms.
